Your Solventless Language Guide
The world of hash is a language all its own, one spoken through melt, texture, and terpene.
To truly appreciate THCA Hash, it helps to know the vocabulary of the craft.
At Paradise, we believe education deepens enjoyment.
This glossary defines the essential terms that every hash lover, collector, or beginner should know, straight from the source.
A
Activation (Decarboxylation)
The process by which THCA converts to THC through heat, releasing CO₂ and becoming psychoactive. See Decarboxylation: How THCA Becomes THC.
Afghan Hash
A traditional, hand-pressed hash made from sieved dry trichomes; known for its dark color, dense texture, and deep, earthy aroma. A signature Paradise offering.
Aroma Profile
The unique scent signature of a hash strain, shaped by its terpene content. Aroma is a key marker of quality and freshness.
B
Bubble Hash
A type of solventless hash extracted using ice, water, and agitation to separate trichomes from plant matter. Named for the way it bubbles when heated.
Batch Number
A unique code identifying the specific production run of a hash product, referenced on a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for traceability.
C
Cannabinoids
The active compounds in cannabis that interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system, including THCA, THC, CBD, and CBG.
COA (Certificate of Analysis)
A third-party lab report verifying cannabinoid content, terpene ratios, and the absence of contaminants. Essential for transparency and safety. See How to Read a COA.
Cold Cure
A curing technique for rosin or hash stored at cool temperatures to preserve terpenes and consistency.
D
Decarboxylation
The heat-driven transformation of THCA → THC, unlocking psychoactive potential.
Dry Sift
A solventless method where cannabis is sifted through mesh screens to collect trichomes. Yields a powdery, golden resin with a traditional touch.
E
Entourage Effect
The synergistic interaction of cannabinoids and terpenes that amplifies the overall effects of cannabis.
Extraction
The process of separating trichomes (resin glands) from plant matter to concentrate cannabinoids and terpenes.
F
Full-Melt
The highest quality grade of hash that completely vaporizes when heated, leaving no residue. Indicates exceptional purity.
Fresh-Frozen
Harvested cannabis that’s immediately frozen to preserve terpene and cannabinoid integrity before extraction. See Understanding 'Full-Melt' Hash.
H
Hashish (Hash)
Concentrated cannabis resin composed of compressed trichomes. The oldest and most traditional form of cannabis concentrate.
Hydrocarbon Extraction
A solvent-based process using butane or propane to extract cannabinoids. Produces BHO or shatter; not solventless.
L
Live Rosin
Rosin pressed from fresh-frozen bubble hash, prized for high terpene content and aromatic intensity.
Linalool
A floral terpene known for calming, anti-anxiety properties, commonly found in lavender and certain hash strains.
M
Micron Bag
A fine mesh filter used in bubble hash extraction. Different micron sizes (e.g., 25μ–220μ) capture specific trichome grades.
Moroccan Hash
A sun-cured, hand-pressed style with light color and smooth, mellow effects. A heritage favorite at Paradise.
P
Piatalla
A proprietary Paradise hash style emphasizing bright citrus terpenes, high melt quality, and euphoric balance.
Premium Hash
Hash defined by solventless purity, full-melt behavior, strong terpene retention, verified COAs, and small-batch craftsmanship. See What Makes a Hash ‘Premium’?
Pressing
The act of applying heat and pressure to resin (typically bubble hash) to produce rosin or refined THCA crystals.
R
Rosin
A solventless extract created by pressing hash or flower between heated plates, yielding a translucent, aromatic concentrate.
S
Solventless
Extraction using only physical methods (ice, water, pressure), no chemicals or hydrocarbons. The highest form of purity in modern hashmaking.
Strain
A unique cannabis variety characterized by its cannabinoid and terpene profile, flavor, and effects.
T
Temple Ball
A hand-rolled, spherical hash made from bubble or dry sift resin. Known for its glossy surface and rich, aged flavor.
Terpenes
Aromatic compounds responsible for cannabis flavor, scent, and effect modulation. See What Are Terpenes and Why Do They Matter?
THCA (Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid)
The non-psychoactive precursor to THC found in raw cannabis and hash. Converts into THC during decarboxylation.
THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)
The psychoactive compound responsible for cannabis’s euphoric effects.
W
Water Hash
Another term for bubble hash, produced via ice-water extraction.
Closing Thoughts
Understanding the language of hash is the first step toward mastery.
When you know the terms, you see the story, of the farmer, the extractor, and the plant itself.
